Why Love And Light Is Only One Side Of The Awakening Story

Reposted from: Wake Up World | by Phillip J. Watt

AwakenWe have all been through personal suffering but only some of us have broken mostly free of it. One way that is becoming more and more common in an ‘awakening’ society is to embrace a philosophy of unity and live via the principles of love and light. But ultimately, it doesn’t matter how much peace we create within, the outside world – which is us – remains in a chronic state of suffering and chaos.

To the more enlightened individual, it’s as if we’re living in ‘Crazy Town’. Seriously, everywhere we look we see madness. It dominates our media, governments, corporations, and even scientific establishments. And so, if we no longer want to live alone in Crazy Town, embracing the love and light within (as well as the dark side of our inner duality too) is really only one side of the awakening story. While this madness continues, the awakening and empowerment of our society is just as important as the awakening of our Self. We need to actively manifest change in the outer world if we’re ever going to transcend this madness.

Welcome to Crazy Town!

For starters, most of the governments of the world advocate for backwards laws which seem so surreal it’s hard to believe it’s true. Natural and effective remedies and medicines are suppressed, the economic model benefits the ‘empire’, our privacy is increasingly invaded, corporate-benefiting and community-destroying regulations are being put in place.

The politicians are turning a blind eye to the capitalist circus – the inaccurately labelled ‘free market’ – which funnels the wealth and resources to those who already have it. They facilitate the military-industrial machine, the massive war-on-drugs policy failure and the industrial devastation of our planet. Where is the orchestrated salvation for a poverty stricken, unhealthy, mentally imprisoned and highly unequal global society?

Geopolitical games are endangering life as we know it. Police are being militarised. Economic warfare is crippling the security of the masses, cultures on edge are scrambling to protect their futures and a nuclear threat looms constantly on the horizon. Wealth disparity continues to increase with thousands of children dying each day from poverty and millions living homeless in both the so-called ‘developing’ and ‘developed’ nations. Our global financial system is also on the verge of not just a crisis, but total collapse.

Multinational organisations are producing large droves of brainwashed minions who over-consume in an unsustainable and self-harming fashionCorporatism and elitism are running the world through the infiltration of our political systems, and most of society doesn’t even know it because those same powers have gained near-full control of peoples’ minds through the mainstream media, which they basically own. They continue to increase the hypnotism of lies and propaganda and omit highly important information that everybody on this planet should not only know, but be engaged in a healthy and proactive debate about.

Our food supply has been corrupted, and the pharmaceutical industry is drugging our societywith toxic substances that not only generate ill health, but kill thousands of people. If that’s not enough, they’re drugging our kids too. The education system is designed to harvest robotic and productive economic citizens with little focus on developing emotional, psychological, philosophical, social and other life skills and knowledge. This is one source of why society is saturated in the pain and suffering of mental health issues, emotional dysfunction, spiritual desolation, existential crises, rampant addiction, obesitysuicide, family breakdown and interpersonal violence and abuse.

The truth is, society is at the whim of those in power who have dumbed us down and distracted us with an entertainment industry that produces an ego-based and image-driven narrative of existence and primes our collective thinking for the next engineered step in the wrong direction. But it’s not just society that is suffering; our Mother Earth is also being imbalanced through unsustainable human activity. Even though she will survive no matter what we throw at her, humans and animals don’t have the same luxury. The ecology of our planet is being destroyed by the dirty fuel industry and industrial agriculture is killing our natural systems – such as our soil, vegetation and animal colonies – in which humanity will bear the full brunt.

Not even academic and scientific establishments can be trusted. They have lost their credibility through a dogmatic approach to their disciplines, mostly due to corporate funding arrangements, taboos, biases and establishment pressures, all of which have influenced the direction of careers and the areas that academics and scientists feel ‘safe’ and ‘supported’ to study and advocate.

In addition, our political direction is an embarrassment to our society at the very least and self-destructive at worst. The dirty money that buys decisions made in our parliaments has an adverse impact on us, our family, our friends, our community and our home planet. Politicians simply don’t represent the people; they represent the corporate and financial elite.

How are we meant to not just survive, but thrive in this Crazy Town that we find ourselves in?

Beyond Crazy-Town

Without tapping into some form of spirituality, it’s challenging, because then there is no better or bigger picture in which to contextualise this total f**king mess. But doing so doesn’t change anything but what’s happening within us; we also need to be active in ways which do not support the current system and which create new systems of living for a united and sustainable global culture.

This means disconnecting from the mainstream media and freeing the mind from its biased narrative. There’s too much misplaced faith in it because after all, it is a powerful and convincing narrative. They do seem legit, because they do tell some truth. However it’s what they omit which is the most damaging; the full disclosure of our current state of our affairs is unfortunately left to the alternative media, which in many cases has its own biases and propaganda too. Of course it is important to stay updated with current affairs, yet there are a multitude of alternative and independent news sites that do a much better job by providing a just and robust coverage of world events.

Furthermore, remember that we are what we eat. This should take the temptation out of pharmaceutical ‘medicines’ and processed foods, which are laced with toxic chemicals and are harmful to our healthEating natural foods and supporting local agriculture, as well as growing our own where possible, we cannot go wrong. For those not familiar with permaculture, it is the conscious design of natural systems that ensures an abundance of food and other resources, without the need for toxic pesticides. (You can read about it here.) Using nature’s innate wisdom, permaculture is an alternative to the harmful industrial-agriculture model and is both the past and the future of sustainable and responsible living on planet Earth. Every community will eventually need to grow their own food in more or less this way.

Moreover, never underestimate the empowerment of being engaged with, and giving back to, our local community. To create a peaceful outer world, we need to get active, and build connections to other active individuals and groups who are helping to manifest, or advocating on behalf of, the paradigm shifts humanity is undertaking. Employment is also highly relevant; if the opportunity can be made to work in a local and ethical industry, then take it. After all, it’s better to be a part of the solution than part of the problem.

The general aim is to further disconnect from the matrix as much as possible and provide our own needs as much as we can. Yet in some ways it’s still business as usual, which means getting on with the priorities of life, including finding peace within this emotional roller-coaster ride. Generating mental and physical self-care strategies to ensure our healing and growth is absolutely essential. To affect real change in our inner realm, we need to be the master of our emotions instead of allowing our emotions to master us. Don’t spend time stressing and worrying either; simply embrace and influence ourselves and our world to the best of our ability, moment to moment.

Igniting our passion and creativity is also essential. Fearlessly pursuing things we are passionate about is good for our physical, psychological and emotional well-being, and also provides an outlet for us to express who we are and what legacy we will leave behind.

Nothing in Crazy Town makes us thrive like spending quality time with family, friends and the community. Cherish it. Find a stride in spreading good vibrations and ‘truth’ on all roads travelled. Make the time to connect with people, and stay on top of the evolving mindsets that humanity adventures into as well. Remember, we’re not in this alone.

Most of all, as already stated, it is integral to develop a philosophy which connects us to the universe. We can look to many sources to understand our union with reality, such as the quantum sciences, religion or spirituality. No matter what we personally resonate with most, as long as we treat our fellow universe and everything in it with the same love and respect that we should be treating ourselves, we’re on the right track.

It’s with these approaches that we’ll have a good shot at transforming Crazy Town into a society that is aligned to our individual and collective awakening. In the meantime, stay active and keep evolving the show.
